Skype is shutting down officially.
When May 5th hits, users will no longer have access to Skype and all your contacts and friends will now exist in Teams. The functionality of what Skype was used for will all and soon disappear.
It’s no secret that Microsoft has been chasing market share in the business collaboration space since Team’s inception in 2017 so there this move does make sense on paper.
So why do I think it’s a mistake?
Simple - Skype should pivot to fully focus on international calling, a market that is still growing.
I go over it in this week’s podcast and other news!
I usually like to post this at the end of the week however this is big news to me. Skype has been an integral part of my childhood so seeing it go deserves its own newsletter.
Have you had fond memories of Skype?
Let me know in the comments :)
