Instead of the usual newsletter, I wanted to talk about why I quit my recent job at Shopify.
First up - great product. Second up - questionable setups internally.
There’s a lot I can say, but I won’t bore you with too much detail. The main problems lie with how teams are structured and how you’re expected to work in a silo. Before joining Shopify, I remember looking at their Glassdoor rating.
I fully believe that before you join any company, Glassdoor ratings do matter, so you definitely need to find that culture fit. So do yourself a favour…read those Glassdoor ratings and reviews and trust them.
Question: Have you experienced a job that you wanted to leave / you ended up leaving? Leave a comment on your own experiences.
This leads me to my next point.
I’m open to freelancing / consulting!
I’ve decided to take a bit more time off before looking for my next role.
In the meantime, if you’re interested in working together on any activity, I can help.
For more detail, check out my portfolio website below and give me a buzz! I have of course technology marketing experience from Fortune 500 to startups but also content creation experience.
Come say hello!
Next newsletter will be back to normal scheduling!
Thanks again for tuning in :)
Cheers,
Richard
