GPT-5 Just Launched. So What's New?
beyond the hallucinations
Hi all,
It’s been a while since I last published, but it seems like AI is taking over everything on the tech news front.
But yes, GPT-5 just got released, and you might be asking what’s new with it? Well, let’s dig right into it.
GPT-5 Is Released—Here’s a summary
OpenAI has officially launched GPT-5, now available to both free and paid ChatGPT users. CEO Sam Altman described it as “clearly a model that is generally intelligent,” though not quite at the level of AGI. Key improvements include greater speed, accuracy, and reduced hallucinations—GPT‑5 reportedly has a 26% lower hallucination rate than the O3 Baseline.
Beyond this, this new version can handle new forms of information, including text, images, audio, and even video. I actually love this feature as I’ve personally used the audio feature recently to help identify something.
The biggest thing, however, is that OpenAI is trying to make GPT-5 feel like you’re talking to an expert versus a chatbot.
